ABOUT LITTLE ECCENTRIC
Nikki Wheatley
Hi, my name is Nikki and I am a little bit eccentric, hence the name!
Wet felting is my passion. I love creating wool paintings. Challenging myself to try different styles and techniques. It is a constant learning curve and full of happy accidents on the journey to creating unique and bespoke designs.
I am becoming increasingly interested in creating wearable pieces too. Blending beautiful colours together and creating bespoke items often nuno felted with silk.
I have always loved art. I use to paint and draw a lot as a child. I then went into nursing but carried on painting as a hobby. All that stopped when I had children. Then about eight years ago started to enjoy crafts again.
About six months later I came across someone felting at a craft fair. I liked the look of it and somehow managed to buy some wool and had a go! I was hooked and I don’t think I have stopped since.
I still love that feeling in your tummy you get when you see the image you are trying to create start looking back at you and working. You can’t beat it.
I regularly exhibit at craft fairs around Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and also have a selection of my work on display at The Eagle Gallery in Bedford and Afterglow in Olney.
Please check out my blog for details of upcoming craft fairs at which I will be exhibiting, as well as my latest creations.

Over the years I have bought many items from Nikki; ranging from hair bands to cards and pictures specially made to order to go with the decor of my rooms at home. One picture even includes the hair from my dog and this is also used to felt into the pictures of the sheep to create the wool effect.

Nikki put on a wonderful wet felting workshop for me and two friends – all total novices at wet felting. Her talent both as a fibre artist and ability to teach, shone through, taking her time to help us develop our ideas and supporting us all throughout the day to make them a reality. We were all full of enthusiasm to try felting at home. I even booked a hat making workshop a few months later.
